Times are tough this Christmas, I might sell my MPC 1k for my first car.
Then next year get a 2xl or never return to the darkside of akai. I've made at least a few hundred beats but never bothered to track em out.

This is all I NEED.

Having an iMac without buying one...this is still $999 so...Does anyone know where or how you can get the 27" cheaper?

You can't really. Maybe eBay. It sucks, because the Apple Cinema display is sexy as hell; but if your not too attached to the Apple name you can get a kick ass LED monitor or TV for less then half the price.. I just rigged a laptop setup up for somebody with a 24" LG monitor and it's awesome. The LG looks very "Apple" and was only $230.

Yeah, I agree I just bought two of the new LG 24" LED superthin displays and hooked them to my Mac Pro Octo Core and they look really good side by side and the. I have a 32" on the wall mounted behind and above them. Got both LED's for under $500

I caved in to gear lust, got my JP 8080 today

Started using it immediately. At first I had trouble, the UPPER/LOWER thing was kind of confusing to me. I've gotten way more used to how my Andromeda and Moog work, which is fairly simpler. I started diving through the manual, which was written like a middle school workbook. After a few minutes flipping though, I had it figured out, this is when I started getting really impressed. Within only a minute or so after figuring it out, I got the exact wide sounds I wanted out of it. After another minute of knob turning I got another exciting sound that had the right digital million oscillator kind of sound I wanted, a few more turns of the knobs and I had an interesting rough weird digital sound. It might be initial infatuation, but I'm pretty happy with it.

how different is the 8080 from the 8000 keyboard. i was just looking at those on ebay 10 minutes ago. Id love to get my hands on the 8000.

Something you might not notice by reading specs is that the 8080 is made out of metal, while the 8000 is made out of plastic. The 8080 also has a vocoder (a true one where you can plug in your own carrier sound) and a full filterbank. It also has 2 more voices bringing it up to 10 rather than 8. On the other hand, the 8000 obviously has a keyboard, which would make using its dual-timbrality easier than trying to use it by setting midi channels and such, I've also heard it has more multi effects.
