Scarlett 2i4 not working. any ideas why not?

So i've had the scarlett 2i4 for a good couple months. its worked great until today :sigh::sigh:
My macbook pro or daw no longer recognizes it, the buttons light up fine so its not completely dead but the usb light no longer lights up. I know i shouldnt need any drivers since plug in and play for mac. Any of you guys had this problem? Is it broken?:(

if usb is not lighting up then you have a power issue: this could be buss power or a damaged usb cable; can you get the 48v phantom power to light up?

try swapping out the cable with a known working one first

then look at changing which usb port you plug into

after that consider a powered usb hub
 
haha thank you, i had already tried using another cable and it didn't work (they both worked recently). So i assumed the worst and came on here to ask. after your reply i decided to look for other cables i had in storage and found one that worked!
