Problem with M-Audio Ozone in Cubase 5.1 and Windows 7

So I bought an M-Audio Ozone with 25 keys and audio interface because I want to learn producing some roots reggae. I know this midi controller is a little bit old, but I found it cheap and I think it's great.

The problem is: I'm using Cubase 5.1 and Windows 7. I installed all the drivers required but when I am trying to use the midi controller after some time it starts to clip so bad that it hurts my ears. I am also using Addictive drums for some samples.

I have an Intel i3 @ 2,1, 3GB RAM and 500 GB HDD. I know that I should get some more RAM, but giving the fact that I am using this laptop only for this activity i think there's nothing wrong with the RAM or CPU. The levels in cubase are also low.

Any ideas? Maybe some driver issues? I read in some place that Firewire has some problems with Windows 7. Should I try XP?

Thanks!
