Hi All,

Just after a bit of advice really...

I got given a MOTU 2408 MKII Interface without the PCI CARD.

My question?... is it of any use to me by itself? stand alone? or should I spend the $100 or so and get a 2nd hand pci card?

I have never recorded any of my beats as yet, they are all stored away on floppy/zip disks!;)

I would like to one day start recording my beats to the computer.

My computer has a firewire card and I have a firewire cable, but no software, I use all hardware to make my music (mpc2000xl, ensoniq mirage/esqm etc...)

Sorry! I have Fruityloops 7 on my old computer.

Do I keep this unit? or do I just wait till I'm ready to record and buy Protools and a 2nd hand digi002 rack or something like that?

Any info/advice would be most appreciated!;)

Thanks!

Steevo.

The MOTU would be way better than a Digi02, plus you'd have 8 ins and outs if you ever wanted to record more than a few tracks at a time...

I think you can use it standalone as a mixer but you need the 424 PCI card if you want to use it as an audio interface....you should be able to find a PCI card for cheap because a lot of people would have replaced the 424 PCI with the 424 PCIe card.
