midi keyboard + maschine standalone + non ni plugins

does anyone know how to use a midi keyboard to control plugins within maschine standalone? my keyboard works fine when using ni plugins (massive, absynth) as well as triggering drum samples, but it doesn't work with third party vsts like xpand and omni. Does anyone have a fix?
 
thanks for the reply. I didn't mention that xpand's sound works just fine once the midi notes are placed. the problem here is that I can't hear any sound in real time while playing non native instruments plugins while playing the midi keyboard manually. the midi data is received just fine, the maschine pads light up when i hit the corresponding note on the keyboard. not being able to experiment while playing the keyboard manually is hurting my creative process.
 
If you mean playing multiple tracks at the same time, in whatever daw that should be simply selecting multiple tracks by clicking and the modifier key a daw uses to keep multiple tracks selected.
 
Some plugins need to be setup in midi options.
But I have never in ever touched that particular plugin.


Some vsts require going into the option thing to setup midi there too actually.
Kontakt/reaktor etc maybe that xpand thing has one of those as well?
