Hi So I'm currently living in a 13'9" x 13'2" dorm room (I'm in a single, so I don't share the room with another person). My windows are about 6 feet high and they go from one side of the wall to the other (where the desks are in the picture below). The room is around 9' - 10' feet high. Should I leave the HF knob at 0, or should raise it up? Should volume be at 0db or can 6db be fine? Thank you!
This may or may not help but I produce in an untreated room (with windows) and I just leave the knobs on my krk's smack dab in the middle. It seems that low frequencies are more affected by reflective surfaces, but overall it's probably more useful to make changes to your recording environment rather than attempt to compensate using the adjustments on your monitors. I like to cross-reference my mixes between several sets of speakers since i cant afford to acoustically treat my studio yet.
