I was wondering about a good audio interface for no more than 1000, I need something with enough channels to record drums, vocals, etc. And do audio interfaces have standard mic plugins?

For no more than $1000 I would narrow it down the the Profire 26/26 and the Digidesign 003 (now Avid, but if you can find the digidesign model, you have more controls on the front panel of the rackmount). The Profire is only 1U so it saves room in your rack and the pres sound amazing, with 192khz capabilities. Both have 8 mic pres, with ADAT and SPDIF connections.

I would co-sign with that Profire suggestion. I personally use the Avid Mbox 3 with protools and have nothing but good things to say about it.
