I love the sound of Dilla, Madlib, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Kanye (Dropout, Graduation type feel), DJ Jazzy Jeff, The Neptunes and Dre. I really want to emulate the sort of sound these guys have. I'm new to producing but i've done some research on how to create this sort of sound. Most people recommend the Ensoniq ASR-10 and the MPC2000XL. I would rather get something new though, because if there is a problem with parts it can be easily replaced. Also there should be more capabilities with new gear as opposed to old (im guessing). Can anyone recommend something a bit newer to create this sort of sound? I'm interested in the MPC 5000/Roland MV8800 (can only afford used though) and the Korg Triton.

Check out Native Instruments Maschine. It can do almost anything a mpc can do plus I like the workflow much better. The software is just awesome and it integrates with any DAW perfectly
