G'day!

I'm new to recording my beats...

Just scored a protools digi 002 rack for cheap.

Questions...??

1. Which protools software runs with the 002 rack?
2. What is ILOK?
3. Can I use different software other than Pro Tools with the 002 rack?

All in all I just want to make sure that I don't go and spend more cash and things don't work together if you know what I mean.

I have an old POWER MAC G4:( that I use the scsi interface for sample transfer and talking to my Akai s3000xl.
It has firewire so I was going to try use that for the protools setup or!...

I have a newer pc 4 x quad core that I can install a firewire card me mate gave me.

Anyway your thoughts and advice would be mostly appreciated!!!

Thanks guys!

PT 6.9.4 through 7.4.

2. What is ILOK?

It's a copy protection system, consisting of license files on an USB dongle.

3. Can I use different software other than Pro Tools with the 002 rack?

It should work with just about everything else just fine - as long as you can still find the legacy drivers & a DAW that runs on OSX10.4 (or 10.5 if it's one of the late models that support it). Reaper still have a rather up-to-date version that runs on PPC Macs.

Hey guys! thanks for the input.

Well I ended up scoring a PROTOOLS 6.9 software at a good price.
Now I have installed it on my old PC because the MAC OS was too old.
My PC is Win XP service pack 2.

It all seemed to install properly but when I hook up the 002 rack and run protools it keeps saying "cant detect digi hardware".

I have made sure that the firewire card is running properly eg. drivers etc...
I also followed the directions about prepping windows for protools with changing a few settings eg. sleep mode etc...

Anyway, there seems to be a problem with Protools detecting the hardware.
Anyone experienced this before?
I'm guessing it's a driver somewhere or do I re - install or...??...???
This is all a bit harder than I thought it would be! crikey!

Any info would be great thanks!

Cheers!
