Need advise for purchase of an audio interface to use with Macbook pro (mid 2010)

Focusrite Scarlett Solo is a good, small interface with one mic pre, works well with Macs. As far as the speakers, not a good choice - low end bottoms out at 90hz - really not even good for casual listening, forget monitoring. Maybe go with their 5 inch monitors, or stick to headphones if you have no space. Monoprice isn't a "brand" btw - they buy stuff cheap from other companies and stick their name on it ;)
