Audio interface vs mixer

Hi guys,
I've been using my old Tascam Us-144 mk1 for some time now and I want to buy something new.

My needs are quite clear - I'd like to record vocals and be able to play guitar via the interface. I also use an interface to produce music (low latency and general stability)

I was thinking about buying a new audio interface when I encountered a very nice mixer, praised on the Internet and very cheap too(Behringer Xenyx 802)

My question is: can you consider it being kind of a substitute to an audio interface? For sure you can record vocals, you have phantom power etc. Can you plug your guitar and use programs like Guitar Rig with a mixer? Can you use a mixer when producing music just to have lower latency?

Is there really a big difference between those two devices?

Cheers
