Whats good guys

So today i bought a USB to MIDI device doe my old Yamaha DJX keyboard

The device is detected in my DAW (FL Studio)

However when I press keys, nothing is playing in my DAW, even when I load a VST and try to use it with that.

Now you may say the keyboard is not capable of running on a computer, however i read in the manual instructions to connect to a computer so it is capable but in this case im using the USB to MIDI wire

I dont see any functions on the keyboard regarding computer use use

I am using the Yamaha PSR-D1
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71AMMZQ7PDL.gif

Any thoughts on how I can fix this issue?

Hi

I own the above mixer with 3 aux sends and 1 stereo (2 mono) return. the levels are adjusted as described bellow

each channel has 3 knobs for aux send (pre and post fader) and then
in the master section we have 3 aux send level knobs and 3 for return (left, right and stereo)
according to the manual I am using a stereo jack for the sends and and a mono for return (for example in the left(mono) return input.
What happens is that I cant listen the wet signal by opening the left return knob but only if i open the stereo. Am I doing something wrong? I mean the left - right mono return arent sepparate inputs? so whats the point having left right and stero return knobs and not only one stereo.

thanks in advance

ps I start thinking sending the return to a channel and use it that way is that wrong?

When im halfway through a track sometimes its made impossible for me to carry on with it as its...

When im halfway through a track sometimes its made impossible for me to carry on with it as its just a constant glitch wen i press play, sometimes it cuts out all sound together just only playing the midi but all wav channels are silent. its a real pain and is crushing the will to make music and im clueless to what is causing it ???

Ive recently upgraded my pc, im using .

Bare in mind im not tech minded -

-windows 7 64 bit
16 gb ram
AMD Processor
Sound card- Focusrite Scarlett 18i6
Cubase 7

in projects im mainly using,

Massive (no more than 6 instances)
Nexus 2 (No more than 2/3)
izotope ozone 4
Izotope Trash
various - filters, reverbs and delays

and that can be literally it.............

ive recently bought komplete 8 wich i havnt had the power to explore yet as i wouldnt dare use too many instances of reaktor and i also find that if i do and use the vst - razor, reaktor somtimes just cuts out all sound and even if saved and re-opened its still not there.

i thought by buying the Scarlett external usb soundcard and 16 gb ram, i would get rid of the glitches and wot not and ultimately improve speed. but its not improved much at all from my previous 4gb ram system !!!
only other issues i can think of could be that i run my samples through an external HD,
(im using 1 TB Seagate Expansion drive)
wether the external is to slow and causing this problem i dont know, it seems much deeper than that ???
and im running out of money and time

can anyone shed some light on this ?

many thanx in advanced.

Hello all.

First of all, I'd like to write my laptop specs.
Asus N53SV
i3 2310M (2.1GHz)
and 4Gb Elpida RAM (1,333 MHz)

I think it's a good laptop to start with, isn't it?
but have some money right now and would like to buy a new RAM, as they are not so expensive.

here's the question - does my laptop go with a single 8Gb RAM, or I need to buy 2x4Gb?
and could you recommend some go to RAM for my needs (production) and to fit my laptop specs?
I'm really confused as I'm not so good at hardware and stuff))

Every advice would be much appreciated!

So im looking to purchase studio monitors for mixing and general composing of EDM / house music, so a low end is important. I currently have my eye on the new Yamaha HS7/HS8 the hs8 is meant to extend all the way down to 38hz. Im also interested in the Presonus eris e8's which is also new. TBH i love the look of the white krk rokit's it will match up with the rest of my home studio, Ive read both good and bad things about the rokits allot of producers do use these which is a plus. Whilst I dont like the rp8's. would the rp5's make a good match with the 10s sub? thanks!
My budget is £600
