hi everyone,
First of all, I think onlineDJ forum is the best forum to get all the newbies started as a DJ. You guys rock!!!

Anyways, got a quick question.

Which choice do u guys think better?
Vetax170a+korg kaos pad or just Yamaha DJ1000
I will be mixing mostly trance.

Any advice will be helpful.:)
Thanx.

damn thats a tough one!!!!!!!

but i think the Vestax 170A + Kaoss Pad will B a better option

the good:
more effects
better interface (Kaoss efx interface Vs. Roland efx interface)
3 ch.
both got send/return
cuts
sampler (on the Kaoss and u can scratch the samples)
ALL faders are USER replaceable!

the bad:
no effects sync to the BPM
mirror finish (u can c fingerprints all over the place  )
i suspect that the Roland have better sound and quality

thats all i can think of...

ok simply put the roland will be better because u can remember how u performed every tweak with the dsp. the kaoss pad doesnt let u remember how u created an effect. if u spin trance its very evenly balanced. Personally id go with the roland because of its midi capability and lfo modulator blocks. They kick *** !

actually:
both of them (i have a Kaoss, don't have a DJ-1000 so i'm not sure about the 1000) don't have memory for the efx (but the Pioneer EFX-500 does), it's no biggie, i remeber all of the effects i did with my kaoss...

and YES the Kaoss has a MIDI out so it is also a MIDI controler! (imagine controling MIDI with it!)

Actually i was talkin about being able to precisely recreat the effects each time with the kaoss. with knobs u can remember where exactly u have set the parameters. agreed the kaoss is more intutive but im an analogue person ! i love knobs ! Ive never tested the midi function on the kaoss so im not sure how good it is.the roland has bpm synced midi control. im not sure if the kaoss is bpm synced

Again if u use the vestax with the kaoss remember that ur sound quality on effects wont be as clean as on the roland.

its really based on personal preferences. I know angelic swears by the kaoss ! :) :D I swear by the roland ! :D :) they are both good. Play with them if u can before u make up ur mind.

well here is ur answer!!! ;)

PS
NO the effects on the Kaoss are not sync to the BPM which is a BIG - :(
and u can recreat the parameters pretty precise tnx to a VISUAL INDICATOR which tells on which axis u are located

ha ha ! ;) I knew ud see it my way. about recreating effects on the kaoss, actually according to some djs its difficult to actually remember the different effects onboard. If the kaoss had bpm synced effects it would kick more *** ! and because it doesnt have bpm synced effects it cannot have proper midi control

THANX for the inputs!
The thing is that Roland 1000 has only two lines,
meaning I can only hook up two decks.
I currently have two M3D's, but i was thinking
about getting CDJ100 in the future.
But the effect grabs and stuff for Roland 1000
sounds pretty cool too.
So I still CAN'T decide if i should buy
Roland 1000 or Vestax 170a.... hmmmmmmmm

u can hook up ur TTs and 2 (or even 4?) line devices (CDs, PC soundcards, MDs...) into the DJ-1000
2 slides doesn't mean 2 devices
2 slides = 2 devices AT ONE TIME
u got a little input selector above each slide so u can switch between ur TT or ur futuristic CDJ-100!
did u got what i'm saying?

oh... I see. So that means I can't use three devices
at the same time. :(
Anywayz, thanx for the input AngelicDeejay. :)

mixing with 3 decks is a VERY VERY VERY hard thing to do, most ppl just use 2, and if u are just beginning it will take u A LONG TIME b4 u can do it (if u will)...
so it really doesn't matter

I see. I will just use two since i'm a beginner.
What do you think about this setup then?

Technics 1200M3D + Roland DJ1000 + Pioneer CDJ100

Would this setup work???
I don't really want to stick with either vinyls or cds.
I wanna practice both.

Any inputs will be great :)

hehehe yeah that sounds really nice.
BUT I can't afford that much $$$.
What I meant was
One Tech1200-Roland1000-CDJ100
since I can somewhat trade one of my 1200M3Ds with CDJ100.
