A change in the level of a signal. For example, if a Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA) were being modulated by a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO), the result would be a periodic increase and decrease in the audio level of the signal.
In musical terms this would be referred to as Tremolo. The abbreviation of Amplitude Modulation is AM.
